Visas & Entry

Most travelers can obtain a visa on arrival in Tanzania. Check your nationality’s requirements and consider the online eVisa. Your passport must be valid for at least six months with two blank pages.

Health & Vaccinations

Consult a travel clinic. Yellow Fever proof may be required if arriving from an endemic country. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Carry personal medication and basic first aid.

Money & Payments

USD is widely accepted for tourism. ATMs are available in major towns. Bring newer USD bills (post‑2006). The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).

Packing List

Neutral‑colored clothing, layers for cool mornings/evenings, sun protection, insect repellent, binoculars, and a good camera. Avoid camouflage prints.

Connectivity

Most lodges provide Wi‑Fi in common areas; remote parks may have limited access. Local SIMs are available; coverage varies across regions.

Local Etiquette

Dress modestly in Stone Town and villages. Learn a few Swahili greetings (e.g., “Jambo”, “Asante”). Always follow your guide’s instructions during wildlife activities.
