What to Expect
On your maiden visit to the Big Apple, be sure to allow a minimum of three days so you can take a breath and enjoy all the city has to offer without being in transit every moment of your trip. The following will only scratch the surface of what to expect but will arm you with information to feel confident during your time in New York City.
This morning, you will start your safari in Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam for your light aircraft flight to the Selous, one of Africa’s most significant game reserves. You will be staying in the heart of the core game-viewing area of Selous.
On arrival at the airstrip in Selous Game Reserve, you will be met by the driver guide, briefing information and game drive you back to camp or lodge. Relax and immerse in your new surroundings before enjoying a delicious, fresh lunch in a beautiful shady spot your camp offers.
There is time to relax for a couple of hours after lunch before departing on an afternoon boat safari. The boat safari is superb in the afternoon, watching wildlife come to the water’s edge to drink and getting close to bird colonies, hippos and crocodiles. You can also enjoy a spot of catch-and-release fishing and the spectacular sundown.
Deliciously morning breakfast to be enjoyed in camp; your days on safari offer plenty of flexibility, with a range of safari activities to choose from each morning and afternoon.
Game drives are the best way to travel further afield and see some more giant games, including the predators. The Selous is home to the largest population of wild dogs in Africa, which are a real highlight if you are lucky enough to encounter a pack.
Full day game drives with picnic lunches or a relaxed lunch in camp with an afternoon game drive. Before the end of the day, you will return to the camp and spend the time relaxing in the swimming pool, evening dinner and overnight.
Guided bush walks are entirely different here, sightseeing the miombo woodland environment with your guide. The walking safari is an exciting opportunity to get close to the animals and the best way to learn the intricacies of the African bush.
Walk along the firmed trail through the African bushes is entirely different from game drives; being on foot brings about a new way of appreciating the natural environment.
After breakfast, pack your bags and say your farewells as you depart to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam. Wave goodbye to Selous and enjoy an en-route game drive to the airstrip.
